Highlighting: it is YOU in the spotlight!
Added another minor feature today. From now on you can easily detect tweets to or about you in the main-timeline (index) or single user view, because they are now highlighted with a different background-color and have a tiny border around the tweet. Hope u like it!
Retweeeeeeeet!
Yes, another frequent requested feature is now live on Slandr: Retweeting! If you see one of your friends tweetings is unforgettable tweet that must be shared accross your followers, just do so by hitting the new button in the timeline which looks like a fast-forward-button.
This feature was recently requested by (amongst others) the following Slandr users: @chrsoz @tomraftery @whatleydude @paulbradshaw @ayse
Happy Slandring!
Changes in top navigation
Next to the caching solution I changed the top navigation to use less space on your tiny mobile screen. Thank you @dutchcowboy and @timvandendool for your input! Please note that none of Slandr’s functions have been removed.
You can find the following subnavigation under the ‘geo’ tab:
- Geo Friends: where are the latest tweets coming from? (previously under ‘geo’-tab)
- Twitterlocal: see who else is tweeting in your hood! (previously under ‘local’-tab)
- Geo Events: lookup local events, powered by last.fm (previously under ‘events’-tab)
Under the ‘extra’ tab you’ll find these functions:
Caching is over.
We are happy to announce that thanks to a tip from @michielb (from Twitstat) Slandr no longer caches Twitter API calls. This means that every time you hit the Slandr logo you’ll get fresh tweets! If you post a tweet yourself you’ll see it immediately in the timeline! WOOOOOO!
fixed friendship & favoritise methods
As of friday August 1st, Twitter’s API slightly changed. For Slandr this resulted in some function-loss: Friendship/followers & Favorites management was not possible. These functionalities have now been restored. Sorry for any inconvenience, happy slandring!
3 months and 3 weeks of happy Slandring. Some stats:
Slandr Mobile Twittah went live on April 17th of this year. Today, 15 weeks after Slandr’s release, @rhymo asked me how many people actually use the service. As I myself do not tend to check-out analytics reports on a weekly basis, heck, not even a monthly basis I just checked out the database and am happy to share these stats with you:
Slandr currently has exactly 1900 logged-in users. Note that these are not the actual amount of people currently using the service. All the ‘remember-me’-users who didn’t sign out are in this database.
A little over a week ago I installed Admob’s Mobile Analytics beta program which gives detailed insight into site visits:
Last week Slandr served to a little over 800 unique visitors. These people generated just a little under 30.000 pageviews during 5.800 visits (yes, that’s about 5,2 pages per visit). In 1 week 250+ direct messages were sent using Slandr (no, I can’t check the contents of the messages)
Admob’s Mobile Analytics has lots of more insights in e.g. phone models, geo coverage, browser compatibility and durations of visits. I’ll share some of that in a few weeks, once the 2K userbase has been reached :)
Added Geo Events: discover acts, artists, gigs in your hood!
Thanks to the new Last.FM API Slandr now has a new service called ‘Geo Events’ which serves you concerts, parties and gigs in any place you want. Initially the page checks against your current location as stored in your Twitter settings, but you are free to choose a city and check-radius to your liking. Check out Geo Events here and find it under the tab ‘events’ in the navigation bar.
Check your API_rate_limit status via Slandr
From now on you can check the current available API-hits you have left through your Single_user_view page here on Slandr. Check your page by hitting your username in the navigation bar. Under the sentence “It’s you!” you’ll find your current API usage and reset-time-information.
Added ‘OLDER’ - button again
The Twitter Development team has re-enabled the API pagination again so we are now happy to provide an OLDER button on your timeline (“HOME”) and on the “SINGLE_USER” pages.
Added ‘API request’ timer
If you wonder why Slandr is sometimes snappy fast and slow as hell on other days, to my regret I have to say this is mostly due to the Twitter API. Should you be interested how long the last API-request took, it now says so in seconds on the bottom of almost every page.
Slandr HQ news now served through Tumblr
You can also check our news updates (this page) through Tumblr, RSS, or @slandr.
Added inline image support for MobyPicture.com and Autopostr.com
Both imagelinks from MobyPicture and Autopostr, are from now converted to thumbnails and displayed on the Slandr site. If you have other photo-to-twitter services which you would like to see converted to inline thumbnail display, please let us know.
Added Tweetburner’s shorturl service service
Support your locals! http://tweetburner.com is a dutch initiative of @michiels and @jansn. Tweetburner shortens urls into the comfy ‘twurl.nl’-format and tracks them too. See what your links are doing on the web! Every message you post on Slandr which contains ‘http://’ in the link will be from now on be Twurled.
See who else is tweeting in your hood!
Added a new tab called ‘local’ to the navigation bar. Clicking ‘local’ will unveil the functionality to lookup twitterars in your neighboorhood, or any other place you choose. This service is powered by Twitterlocal.net!
